My three children – The oldest

He is the most outgoing of all of my children he is also the laziest. He can wow the crowd with stories, with dancing, with fake singing, with his personality and his ability to call any man he speaks to “sir”, he shakes hands with a firm grasp as he looks into the eyes of the possessor of the hand and he smiles and laughs and plays with little kids with much joy.  He is social and yet cannot stand to clean his room or put the dishes into the dishwasher or cut the lawn without me telling him.  He can spend hours in front of what my grandfather called “the idiot box”  and then get right up from hours of doing nothing and appearing to enjoy doing nothing,  he can than make an announcement that he is soooooooooooo board. Huh?

This same child will play a basketball game and run the court with ease. He remembers all of the plays, he knows who on the team should be where so that they can accomplish their goal. In this case the goal is to make 2 points, to put the ball inside of the net and then like a gazelle he will look at me to see if I am looking at him and he will see my eye looking at his eye. He will smile and I will also. He is a wonderful player and a pretty doggone good kid.

He is 15. It is interesting how God has designed boys and men. They can remember every play and everyone’s name, they can operate a cell phone better than me and they study to find themselves approved – when he puts his mind to it – he can do anything.
